So, here we are, almost at full time for 2023.
Christmas is just around the corner, a perfect time to kick back, share laughs, and create memories with our loved ones.
It’s been a fantastic year for us at Dinnington Town. We've seen some incredible milestones, and a few are listed below:
The new stand at Phoenix Park opened, boosting our fantastic facilities even further.
Our Summer Football Festivals made a smashing debut at our home ground, attracting over 80 teams across six weekends in the summer.
We’ve given our changing rooms and tunnel a fresh, exciting makeover.
The new Tannoy system has certainly added more buzz around the ground on matchdays.
A big shout-out to our under 16 star, Louis Bassett, who’s bagged a two-year scholarship at Rotherham United. And, it’s not just him – many of our young talents are turning heads at professional clubs.
The launch of our first Supporters Club, the 1908 Club, has brought even more energy and spirit to our 1st team games, home and away.
Looking ahead, we’ve got a wish list for Santa, or more realistically, our goals for the next year:
Investing in our grass pitches to welcome even more teams to our family.
Launching a Dinnington Town Ladies team – a dream we're eager to realise will become high priority once we have more pitch availability.
We'd also love to build covered areas behind both goals for a better matchday experience, especially for the junior teams' families as it’s pretty exposed as you watch matches from there.
Another ground improvement could also see the installation of a fixed tunnel area so players have safe access from the changing rooms to the pitch.
Considering a Veo system, and...
Aiming for a Grassroots partnership with a professional club to create more opportunities for our players.
A massive thank you to Brearley and Co, our main sponsors, for their support this year. Also, a mention to Burrows Motor Company, our maiden stand sponsors.
A special mention goes to Jane and Darron from Dinnington Resource Centre – your support has been unwavering and phenomenal. The facilities are top-notch, making us the envy of many visiting teams.
On this point, our tuck shop is a unique gem, helping teams across all age groups with a significant source of income each and every year. In times when I see so many posts about junior teams folding, it’s a reminder of how privileged we are to be part of Dinnington Town.
But let's not forget, none of this is possible without our incredible volunteers and coaches. Your dedication is the backbone of our club. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you.
To our 1st team fans, the parents and spectators of our senior & junior teams – your support is invaluable too. Rain or shine, you're there, and for that, we're incredibly grateful. Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
On a final note, we have a club fundraiser event at the club on the 27th December, where our coaches from all age groups will be “showcasing” their footballing skills. Bring the family along and allow the players to turn the tables on their coaches and offer words of support and guidance from the sidelines for a change. A portion of the gate receipts will be going Rotherham Hospice. Food, drinks, and good times await, with gates opening at 11am and the match starting at 1pm.
If you’re free on the 30th December, come support our 1st team as we entertain SJR Worksop at home. Kick off is 12pm. Players of Dinnington Town get in free, adults are £4 and concessions are £2.
So, as we wrap up for the Christmas break, a big thanks again to everyone who makes Dinnington Town what it is – our fans, volunteers, players, and coaches. We couldn’t do it without you.
Merry Christmas and see you all in the New Year!
Thanks
Andy Marshall
