Dinnington Town extended their unbeaten league run to 12 matches with a convincing 3-1 win away at Harworth Colliery under the Friday night lights.


The victory further solidified their place at the top of the table, stretching their lead to nine points ahead of the weekend fixtures.


The game kicked off with Dinnington Town making an immediate statement of intent.


Just four minutes in, they came close to opening the scoring when a well-directed header narrowly missed the target. This early chance set the tone for a fast-paced and assertive start from the league leaders.


Dinnington Town's pressure finally paid off in the 22nd minute. A swift break down the right-hand side caught the Harworth Colliery defence off guard. The ball was laid off perfectly for Logan Liggins, who calmly slotted it into the bottom corner to give Dinnington Town a deserved 1-0 lead. It was a textbook example of quick, incisive attacking football, and Liggins' composed finish capped off the move.


Dinnington Town didn’t have to wait long to double their advantage.


Just seven minutes later, in the 29th minute, they struck again with a brilliantly worked team goal. Danny Booth delivered a pinpoint switch of play, finding Ash Cooper in space on the wing. Cooper's whipped cross into the box was met by Liggins, who side-footed it home for his second goal of the night.


The fluidity of Dinnington Town’s attack left Harworth Colliery struggling to cope, and by half-time, the visitors were in full control with a 2-0 lead.


The second half began with more pressure from Dinnington Town, and they effectively sealed the win in the 53rd minute. Logan Liggins, involved once again, caused havoc down the flank. His dangerous cross forced a Harworth Colliery defender into an unfortunate own goal, making it 3-0 to the visitors and all but ending the contest.


However, Harworth Colliery refused to go down without a fight.


In the 66th minute, they pulled a goal back from a set piece. A corner delivery was not properly cleared, and Harvey Smith was on hand to prod the ball home from close range, giving the home fans something to cheer about and briefly shifting the momentum.


Despite Harworth Colliery’s efforts to mount a comeback, Dinnington Town managed the remainder of the game with professionalism and composure.


They kept their defensive shape, limited Harworth Colliery’s chances, and saw out the 3-1 win without any further drama.


The victory marks yet another step towards Dinnington Town's promotion hopes, who are now nine points clear at the top of the table. Their remarkable run of 12 consecutive league wins continues to put pressure on their closest rivals.


Dinnington Town are next in action on Saturday 19th October, away to AFC Bentley in the Black Dragon Premier Division North. Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
