Full Time: Dinnington Town 6-1 Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves

Under the brilliant but deceptive guise of a cold and bright day at Phoenix Park, Dinnington Town took on Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves.

Phoenix Park has become somewhat of a goal fortress for Dinnington Town in recent months, having not lost at home in the league since August.

But a stalwart 6th placed Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves posed a difficult task for them on any day, let alone with the tricky, gusty wind.

The occasion was marked by the inaugural use of the new tunnel from which Dinnington Town emerged, not just into the light of the day but into the passion of the game.

With the wind as a tempestuous companion, the match kicked off, and within a mere seven minutes, Jordan Turner put Dinnington Town ahead.

The ink had barely dried on the notebook when Ashley Cooper doubled the lead, leaving Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves with a veritable mountain to scale so early in the game.

As if propelled by the spirits of Phoenix Park itself, Jordan Turner once again found the net at the 20-minute mark, solidifying a lead that felt as colossal as it was insurmountable.

And then, as the half-time whistle loomed, Justin Circuit, embodying the relentless drive of Dinnington Town, scored the fourth, a testament to the indomitable spirit and tactical prowess that Phoenix Park had come to be known for.

The second half began with a narrative no less compelling than the first.

Dinnington Town, undeterred by the conditions that had seen many a team falter, found yet another moment of brilliance from Jordan Turner as he completed yet another Dinnington Town hat-trick.

Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves, in a moment of defiance against the narrative of the day, managed to find the back of the net with a shot that took a wicked deflection, leaving Steven Booth in the Dinnington Town goal without a hope of saving the shot.

The final action was written by Kyle Skeldon, who, with a free kick that pierced through the wind and into the net, cemented a 6-1 victory for Dinnington Town.

As the final whistle blew, Phoenix Park stood to cheer off the team, leaving them with just two more home games left in the campaign.

Dinnington Town are next in action Tuesday, 26th March, in the semifinal of the Buckingham Insurance League Challenge Cup against Derby Singh Brothers. Kick off is 7:45pm, and the match will be played at Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves' Inkersall Road Stadium, S43 3JL.
