Dinnington Town started the new season with a win after a late switch of venue.
The match was originally due to take place away from home but as the bad weather threaten to postpone the first match of the season both teams agreed to switch venues and play on Dinnington Town's 3G pitch.
Goals from Nathan Jessie and a brace from Alex Rippon were enough to earn victory for Dinnington Town.
The game was marred by a straight red card for violent conduct for Retford's Ellis Nicholson which left Dinnington's Harry Webster-Dunkerley needing hospital treatment.
Dinnington are next in action Wednesday away from home to Kiveton Miners Welfare. Kick off is at 6:30pm.
