Dinnington Town progressed to the next round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA County Cup after victory on Saturday.
The original game was due to be played away, but the clubs agreed to reverse the fixture due to flooding at AFC Bentley's home ground.
Dinnington Town, perhaps feeling the vigour from their recent successes, started the match with the kind of tenacity we've come to expect.
Barely had the echoes of the referee’s whistle faded when Nathan Jessop put Dinnington Town ahead in the 7th minute.
While AFC Bentley tried to rally, Dinnington Town's defence stood firm and on 38 minutes, Nathan Jessop once again showcased his skills, doubling the lead and stamping Dinnington's authority on the tie.
At half-time, the scoreboard told a tale of Dinnington dominance: 2-0.
However, football is a game of two halves. AFC Bentley, showing spirit and determination, pulled one back immediately after the restart, sending whispers of a potential comeback through Phoenix Park.
But, today was not their day. Dinnington Town, the maestros of control, put on a great midfield display, stifling AFC Bentley's advances and dictating the rhythm of the match.
On 71 minutes, Cam Evans sealed the win ensuring their progression to the next round of the cup.
As the final whistle sounded at Phoenix Park with a 3-1 win for Dinnington Town, the home fans celebrated three home wins on the bounce, in which they have scored 14 goals and only conceded one goal.
Dinnington Town are next in action away on Saturday, 11th November, against Bottesford Town in The Buckingham Insurance League Challenge Cup. Kick-off is at 3:00 pm.
