Full Time: Dinnington Town 10-1 AFC Phoenix

On a day when Dinnington Town reaffirmed their dominance at the summit of the Black Dragon Premier Division North, the home side delivered a scintillating performance to dismantle AFC Phoenix 10-1 at the Blackout13.com Arena.


The emphatic victory ensured Dinnington Town remain four points clear at the top of the table.


From the first whistle, it was evident Dinnington Town were in a ruthless mood. The home side wasted no time asserting their authority, pinning the visitors back and showcasing their attacking intent. Will Eades opened the scoring early on and Dinnington Town never looked back.


With the momentum firmly on their side, Dinnington Town continued to pile forward, and it wasn’t long before Brad Kerr made his mark. The prolific striker doubled the lead before adding a third no long after, displaying the kind of clinical edge that has made him such a talismanic figure this season.


Just before half time it was 4-0 as Logan Liggins got in on the act.


At this point, Dinnington Town were in complete control, dictating the tempo and showing why they have been the team to beat this campaign.


As the half-time whistle blew, the home side left the pitch to a raucous ovation from the Blackout13.com faithful, with the game already looking well beyond the reach of the visitors.


If AFC Phoenix had hoped for a quieter second half, those hopes were swiftly extinguished. Dinnington Town resumed their relentless pursuit of goals, and it was Brad Kerr once again who stole the spotlight. Completing his hat-trick within minutes of the restart and making it 5-0. And then qucikly added another to make it 6-0.


AFC Phoenix managed to pull a goal back through Hassan, who capitalised on a rare lapse in the Dinnington Town defence to reduce the deficit to 6-1. But any faint hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed.


Corey Glaves restored the hosts’ six-goal cushion, finishing with aplomb to make it 7-1.


Moments later, Kerr was at it again, scoring his fourth and then his fifth of the afternoon to take the score to 8-1. The striker’s masterclass in finishing drew deserved applause from all corners of the ground, with even the visitors’ bench left in admiration.


Jay Atkin then added the ninth and with the match already well beyond doubt, Corey Goodwin put the icing on the cake in the dying moments to complete the rout at 10-1.


Dinnington Town are next in action on Saturday 21st December, at home to SJR Worksop in the Black Dragon Premier Division North. Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
