
Dinnington Town strengthened their grip on top spot with a dominant 5-0 victory over Worksop Town Reserves at the Blackout13.com Arena, moving another step closer to their promotion dream.
With just six crucial fixtures remaining, the league leaders delivered a performance full of authority and attacking intent, spearheaded by a Brad Kerr hat-trick that underlined their charge towards the title.
From the outset, Dinnington Town took control, pressing high and dictating the tempo. Their early pressure paid dividends in the 15th minute, as Brad Kerr found space inside the box and fired home to give the hosts a deserved lead.
Worksop Town Reserves were handed a golden opportunity to draw level in the 26th minute when they were awarded a penalty. However, Steven Booth produced a brilliant save to preserve Dinnington Town’s advantage.
That moment proved pivotal, and Dinnington Town capitalised before the break. Awarded a penalty of their own in the 40th minute, Kerr stepped up with trademark composure doubling the lead and giving his side a commanding 2-0 cushion at half-time.
The second half saw Dinnington Town shift through the gears, showing no signs of letting up.
Their dominance was rewarded again in the 52nd minute, as Cam Evans rifled home to make it 3-0 to the home side.
Seven minutes later, it was Liam Royles who got in on the act, putting the game beyond any doubt at 4-0.
The game belonged to Brad Kerr, though, and he completed his hat-trick in the 79th minute, to cap off a ruthless display from the league leaders. His 29th goal of the season put the gloss on an emphatic 5-0 victory, further cementing his status as the division’s most lethal marksman.
With the finish line in sight, Dinnington Town now face six crucial cup finals as they look to seal promotion. Their lead at the top remains intact, but the chasing pack are still in the hunt.
Dinnington Town are next in action on Saturday 1st March, at home to Yorkshire Main in the Buckingham Insurance League Challenge Cup. Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
